The .45 pistol was originally developed when the old US Army .38 revolver failed to stop charging Moro warriors during the Philippine Insurrection. The powerful .45 was an immediate favorite with the troops, and was issued through WW1 and WW2. This US Army USMC Marine WW2 M-1916 COLT 1911 .45 PISTOL HOLSTER is in very good condition, with moderate verdigris to the exterior and the underside of the brass rivets at each side of the upper back, the brass lined grommets at each side of the bottom tip, and to each side of the brass wire hanger at the upper back, a scuff at the right back, some scattered scratching at front and back, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the holster is in fine shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or other damage to the tough brown leather construction. It boasts a fully intact brass wire hanger at the upper back, sports a fully functional brass retention stud closure front flap, and is complete with the original sewn leather \"block\" inside.The holster bears a bold, distinct oval \"US\" stamping at front, and most interestingly, is marked to \"SEARS\" at the upper left front (underneath the front flap), along with the inspector initials \"G.W.M.\".
