Along with a stubby cigar and a perpetual scowl, the tank jacket quickly became symbolic of the irreverent, irascible, and profane US tanker of WW2. This US Army USMC Marine WW2 SHERMAN TANKER KHAKI TANK JACKET is in poor condition, with a non-functional front zipper (no zipper slide present), large repairs at each lower sleeve, replacement knit wool cuffs, a long frayed tear at the upper right back, some brownish soiling at the middle left chest, moderate tearing at the middle front hem, moderate repairing at the lower right front pocket, some holes and tears at the lower right sleeve, some frayed tears at the left wrist, moderate scattered mothing and repairing to the knit waistband, some fraying to the top back edge of the knit collar, a repair at the inside neck, some fraying to the edges of the knit cuffs, and with moderate scattered tearing, repairing, and age wear evident (some pictured). Otherwise, the jacket is in fair shape for its age, with no other damage to the tough khaki 100% cotton construction.
