The US Army sought to replace the old denim work uniform early in WW2, and introduced the first HBT fatigues in 1941. The jacket featured a distinctive dual button closure at front hem, and the pants boasted only slash entry waist pockets, open top seat pockets, and a small watch pocket at the front right waist. These were quickly replaced by a set with more carrying capacity to allow a GI to fight \"out of his pockets\", making any 1st pattern HBT uniform piece quite rare today. This pair of US Army WW2 1ST PATTERN HBT COMBAT FATIGUE PANTS are in very good condition, with some dark soiling at the middle seat, some black spot soiling and a small surface nick at the front right waist, three small spots of brownish soiling and a small line of surface nicking at the lower front right leg, a few small spots of brownish soiling at the lower front left leg, some scattered spot soiling at the back ankles, some wrinkling at the back left thigh, heavy fading to the illegible nomenclature tag inside, and with some scattered age wear evident (most pictured). Otherwise, the pants are in fine shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or other damage to the crisp sagish OD HBT 100% cotton construction. Most interestingly, they measure to a Size 34 Waist x 30 Inseam, boast all of the original 13 star \"burst of glory\" embossed metal fly buttons, and carry the service number \"F 1605\" stamped at the interior front right waist.
