US Cavalry Military Bit Number 2, Y&T McClellan saddle period WWI M1909 WWII:

US Model 1909 Curb bit, clearly stamped with a size 2, and the US on the opposite side. This bit also bears the manufacturers stamp Y&T on the boss. The bit was used from prior to WWI thru the end of WWII.
The bit is quite smooth for its year, with no severe rust or pitting of the metal. It does, however, have a slight bend in the shank.
This bit, used in a military bridle, would be part of the equipment used with the McClellan saddle.
