US Pre-WW1 NEW YORK NATIONAL GUARD 8 POCKET SPRINGFIELD CARTRIDGE BELT Vtg Ammo:
$99.99

At the turn of the 20th century, the state of New York fielded more National Guard regiments than any other, befitting her status as the most populous state in the Union. From about 1912 to 1917, some New York National Guard units were equipped with a specially contracted 8 pocket cartridge belt for the \'03 Springfield; each pocket closed with a rimmed snap bearing the seal of the \"Empire State\", rather than the traditional US Army eagle snap. This US Pre-WW1 NEW YORK NATIONAL GUARD 8 POCKET SPRINGFIELD CARTRIDGE BELT is in good condition, withsome scattered fading, brownish soiling, and dark spot staining throughout, moderate scattered verdigris patina to some of the darkened brass grommets,a bit of fraying to the bottom corner of the front right pocket flap, one bottom corner of the second from front left pocket body, and to the middle grommets at each side of the front, a few small nicks in the right back, some fraying around the interior bottom second from right front grommet, missing two grommets from the interior bottom right side, and with some overall age wear evident (most pictured). Otherwise, the belt is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough khaki canvas construction. Most interestingly, it boasts the classic 4 pocket sections riveted to each side of a M-1912 style (no grommets at middle) pistol belt, all of which close with a rimmed snap bearing the seal of New York, sports a fully functional large \"T\" darkened brass front buckle, and carries \"1B N.S.C.N.Y. A 65\" stenciled in black along the interior back. It features the original darkened brass sizing keepers at front, and is a fine example of a very rare, original US Pre-WW1 NEW YORK NATIONAL GUARD 8 POCKET SPRINGFIELD CARTRIDGE BELT. We have shown a photo of a nearly identical cartridge belt featured on page 22 of R. Stephen Dorsey\'s excellent reference book \"U.S. Martial Web Belts and Bandoliers: 1903-1981\".
