Description
The term Suzani means "needlework"--specifically, the exquisite silk thread embroidery panels made by Uzbek women. Traditionally this embroidery work began at the birth of a daughter and continued, with the help of family and friends, until the bride\'s dowry was complete. As the Soviet era ended and Westerners discovered Central Asian folk arts, the price of old suzanis escalated. East_treasures offers you old suzani, affordably priced and in beautiful condition. Our suzani are genuine folk art, stitched by hand in the traditional manner. Once used as coverlets for the bridal bed, these gorgeous textiles can bring color and texture to any environ. Offered here is very nice Suzani from legendary Samarkand. Samarkand came into history of world culture as a capital of Amir Temur\'s empire. The city was surviving difficulties after disintegration of the empire, but could keep a status of the largest center of culture and art crafts. The original Samarkand embroidery excites especial interest. Despite the close neighbourhood of the large centers of embroidery - Bukhara, Nurata and Shakhrisabz, which gravitate to the general Bukhara school, the Samarkand school has preserved own style, captivating by monumental solutions, laconic color and dynamic forms. The composition consists of the repetition of the large rich medallions and stylized bushes with scrolls.Medallion is the realistic depiction of the sun\'s disk is undoubtedly connected with the old popular rituals and beliefs. The sun is a favourite motif of all Central Asia embroidery. It passes through the history of the art, gradually losing its religious significance. In our days it appears in the form of a tulip named yak lola. The motif so widely used by Uzbeks, Tajiks, Kirghizs and even Turkmen embroideresses and other handicraftsmen is of a very old origin. It was traced back to the 7-8th century Sogdian art.
Huge decorative effect plus interesting design makes this piece of silk hand embroidery is real masterpiece, which has been made with skill and love. Don\'t miss the opportunity to own such beautiful embroidery.
