At offer is an Extremely Rare 19th Century Papuan Gulf - New Guinea Bark Belt. It was purportedly a museum piece brought back to the United States by a WWII Navy Vet who was stationed in the South Pacific. It is highly decorated, approximately 3 1/2\" tall and 8\" across the outside coil. There is, what I have been advised is, a Collection Number of 1858 printed on the belt thatis clearly shown in the photos. The belt broke at some time in history and there is some cracking and damage to the rims. BarkBelts of this age are very rarely offered for sale.
