Excellent condition cast iron and mahogany (or walnut) adjustable book carrier. String is tied to underside of ratcheting cast iron adjustable wheel and makes loop through end holes through both pieces of wood and is tightened by turning wheel - it has a ratcheting action, holding on a notch at each turn. Works fine, as intended. Groove on the underside of the bottom board is where the string runs. 11 1/2\" long. All good. As pictured.
