Technique : Egg tempera on wood, gesso, gold leaf 22 karats, varnishProvenance: Central Greece, workshop of iconography\'\' METEORITIKON\'\'This is a hand painted orthodox icon of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This subjext is one of the most theological of the Orthodox iconography and it is also called as the descent into Hades. According to theology of the Church , Christ after his death went to kingdom of death, in the Hades and he tought to the deads the gospel. He is depicted full of glory and his dress is elaborated with gold leaf putting down the doors of the kingdom of Hades and bringing back to life Adam and Eve who were very aged , being on the grave and they rise their hand asking from Christ to rise them from death to life. The icon depicts the triumph of Christ upon death and the message of the ressurection of all deads during the Doomsday. The icon is a true copy of an antique painted according to the traditional technique of egg-tempera , using colours in powder (pigments) of stones mixed with egg and vinegar. The technique that I use is the old traditional byzantine technique.The icon will be accompadied by a certificate of authenticity, signed and dated.
