Offered here is a very nice yellow brocade Chinese hat for a man. The yellow brocade silk has a pattern of dragons on it. There are some chain stitch embroidery accents on the stylized \"shou\" character on the front and the applied area surrounding the black silk knot. The interior is lined in some sort of red fabric , does not appear to be silk. The brim has a black trim of a felt of some type, also not silk that I can see. The woven top knot finial does appear to be silk. It has the original ties that would have gone under the chin. Overall it is in extremely fine condition. with a tiny bit of loss to the embroidery on the shou character but this is not that visible. Please look at the close up photo. This could have possibly been worn for a wedding or possibly for a birthday celebration for men turning 60.70 or 80 years of age. The \"shou\" is a wish for long life. it measures 10 inches across the top and 7.25 inches on the interior. I think it is very late 19th to early 20th cent. Have to say I have not seen many like it in all my years of collecting. It has been in my collection for 25 years. Please note the stand does not come with the hat!
