US Navy C Class Submarines in Gatun Locks, Panama Canal, c. 1918, Maduro postcard 1920s

This is an I. L. Maduro Jr. “Blue Eagle” color picture postcard from the 1920s and 1930s. It shows five small “C” Class US Navy subs in the Gatun Locks of the Panama Canal. These five were built from 1906 to 1909 and commissioned from 1909 to 1910, and were sold for scrap in 1920, so this photo was taken between 1910 and 1920. Unused card not postally mailed. Great condition with no creases, stains, bends or other faults; perforations at left as card was in a postcard booklet.
