I acquired a group of these US Navy Ship’s Plaques recently from a friend of mine.
All were acquired during the time period of 1963-1966 by his father personally.
His father was a Lt Commander and stationed in Naples, Italy during that period.

She supported occupation landings, patrolled off southern Japanese islands.
Korean War: Arrived in the Western Pacific on Feb 27, 1952, for blockade and interdiction patrols along the Korean Coast. While operating off Songjin on May 7, she engaged enemy shore batteries and silenced several of them but sustained six direct hits.

In August 1966, she was assigned as the close-in recovery ship for the second in a series of Apollo unmanned space launches.

Plaque is over 50 years old & in original condition. Many of these plaques were made aboard ship or from a Ship\'s Tender in the foundry by crew members working in that shop. It\'s hard to say how many were totally made through out the years. No plaques were made out of Taxpayers money. Plaques and ashtrays were made out of the ships scrapes. Some were made out of brass, aluminum pot metal, copper, plaster and resin. Usually the crew members painted the plaque. The wood plaques were made out of the ships supply in the carpenters or ship fitters shop.
