Listed this week is session two of this very fine estate collection of snuff bottles. This is surely one of our Largest Asian art estate sales to date. The bottles and other items listed are from the estate of Henrietta Anthony of Quebec. Ms. Anthony owned one of the most prominent antique galleries in Montreal that she ran from the age of 18 to 80, for 62 years. Anthony also owned a large and very successful vineyard in the hills of southern Quebec. Ms. Anthony had a passion for Chinese art with a keen interest in snuff bottles and was well known in the area for being a top dealer and knowledgeable appraiser. The bottles listed are from her private collection of fine and unique examples she kept over the years. I am told most of the bottles were purchased 30-40 years ago mainly in London, Hong Kong, and New York. I believe this is a rare opportunity to acquire some very fine fresh to market examples. Up for sale is a fine Chinese silver enamel snuff bottle. This snuff bottle is part of a large estate collection up for sale this week. This collection includes a fine collection of antique snuff bottles that were collected approximately 30 years ago.

This snuff bottle is a very unique example that is finely hand made of solid silver with canton enamel work. I believe this snuff bottle would date to the 19th century period. I have seen some examples like this with three to four bottles, but not one with six bottles like this example I believe being a rare find. The bottles are all hinged together and can be folded up as you can see. The snuff bottles all have their original lids. The snuff bottle could use a good cleaning and has some small imperfections to the enamel work. Overall the snuff bottles are in substantially good estate fresh condition as you can see. The snuff bottle measures 5 inches long, by 3/8 of an inch wide when unfolded, and 3/4 of an inch long, by 2 3/8 inches deep when folded. The snuff bottle sits 1 3/8 inches tall without its lids, and 1 5/8 inches tall with its lids. This piece has a total weight of 86 grams including lids.
