VERY FINE RARE EARLY NORTHWEST COAST TSIMSHIAN LIDDED TWINED BASKET c1900:

Averyrare old Northwest Coast Tsimshian Indian hand woven lidded treasure basketdating from the early 1900\'s.The basket is finely woven from split and dyed spruce root and bark with a very complex and stunning false imbricated design done in dyed bear grasses to produce the striking feather pattern that encircles the periphery. The basket measures 5 1/2\" D and stands

3 1/2\" tall and is good condition with no splits or repairs noted . The basket has a great patina from great age. Tsimshian baskets are some of the rarest of Northwest Coast basketry and the ones being the most highly sought after. This museum quality basket will make a fine addition to anyone\'s collection.
