VERY RARE 1755 William Cripps Georgian Sterling Silver Tea Caddy
An antique London sterling silver locking tea caddy. This piece has a square shape and features an eagle crest on the top in an oval frame reading, “Spes et Fides” in Latin, which translates to “Hope and Faith”. There is a hinged lid and a scalloped base. The underside is stamped with a “WC” maker’s mark resembling the William Cripps mark, alongside London hallmarks of a crown leopard head, lion passant, and a lowercase “F” in a five-lobbed cartouche for 1753. The approximate weight is 10.070 ozt.
Good CONDITION - surface wear including scratches and tarnish; key not included.
