Size 19with an Enamelled dial marked James Stoddart, London ,47738 with Roman numeralson chapter ring, ticks on outer minute ring, seconds dial below center withArabic numerals every 10 seconds, brass movement cover engraved James Stoddart47738 London,

We havehad a bit of a puzzle with his watch as the chain pin is hallmarked and datesto 1849

Whereasthe case is fully hallmarked and dates to 1891 so this watch could be from the 1840\'s

Hallmarkedhunter\'s case with engine turned decoration and engraved and chased crest,hallmarks include Wheatsheaf (Chester), Lion Passant in shield, date letter Hfor the year 1891, case is also marked with maker\'s initials IJT you can seethis in the photos. It keeps good time and has had a recent service so it is invery good working order. We do not have a key for it. The dial has two smallcracks, (1 at 12 and the other at 3, which have been spotted during service sothey will not spread) You can see these in the photos.

THISWATCH WAS SOLD AT sale BY JONES & HORAN sales IN 2007 FOR US$550, wepurchased it in 2010 from the family estate sale.

THECONDITION AND QUALITY OF THIS WATCH WOULD MAKE IT AN IDEAL ADDITION TO ACOLLECTORS CABINET.
