VERY RARE ANTIQUE PERSIAN SAFAVID OR OTTOMAN ISLAMIC 17th/18th C QURAN BINDINGS:

For sale is this very finely detailed antique Islamic Quran Bindings. The bindings are covered in leather and have been embossed with this floral pattern and decorated with gold detail.

They are either Persian Safavid or more likely Ottoman and they date from 17th / 18th century.

The are not the soft flimsy bindings, these are very good quality hardback bindings of the finest quality.

Bindings like this regularly enter major sales like Christie\'s for example. If you look at their past Islamic sales you will find similar examples in their catalogues.

This is a genuine, high quality Islamic antique, worthy to enter any collection of Islamic antiques and collectibles.

Size

The height of the bindings is 20.2cm= 8 inches.

The width the single binding is 14.2cm = 5.6 inches

The width of the binding with the marker flap is 27.4cm = 10.8 inches

The bindings are in excellent condition for their age. Some minor signs of age and wear but expecting of an old piece like this. No major damage.
