This is a stunning and rare design large Victorian Scottish agate silver pebble brooch with slate backing and finely engraved clover design claws.
This is a very high quality brooch with superbly shaped agates The agates used are stunning rare purple speckled Campsie Fells jasper and high quality banded Montrose agate.
There is a slight inclusion on one of the Montrose agates which breaks to the surface.
The engraved clover shaped claws are tested sterling silver, the circular metalwork to the reverse is not silver.
The brooch measures 55mm at its widest or just under 2ΒΌ inches.
The steel pin,hinge and C clasp are all original and in perfect working order.
