SUPER RARE ANTIQUE Cabinet Photo of Early Track & Field Winner, Olympics, Spiked Shoes & Track Awards Visible, c.1880

DESCRIPTION:Scans show it all.....very rare, unique antique cabinet photo. Shows a very confident looking young man with his arms crossed. He is wearing what appears to be a track & field uniform with short pants and a light, tight shirt.

MOST IMPORTANTLY HE IS SHOWN WEARING LOW BLACK TRACK SHOES WITH SPIKES READILY VISIBLE. THESE ARE PARTICULARLY COOL. On his shirt is pinned some sort of cross award. He has been intentionally posed next to a fancy table with several sports awards that I assume he had won. One is a tall silver \"loving cup\", and also a couple of cased medals!!!

Also unique is that on the reverse was glued another photo of a female, either his girlfriend or his mother (hard to tell her age because of the old fashion!!). This was clearly done in at the time this was made.

Great addition to an early photographic, track & field, Olympic, or vintage sporting display or collection!! I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ANTIQUE PHOTO AS NEAT AS THIS.

I\'m not sure if he was in the Olympics, as they did not start until about 1890. This could be a photo of someone who later competed in the Olympics or just someone who competed in sports, without ever having made it to the Olympics. Just cool to have a period track & field photo.

In very good condition. Standard cabinet photo size. Photographer name and address on the front. A great gift idea !!!
