VERY RARE & VERY EARLY PAIR OF ANTIQUE STUFFED STEIFF & GUND MOHAIR MONKEYS:

Just REDUCED $115 from OLP!Steiff & Gund (see comments)Classic Pair!Selling these as a pair as it appears they\'ve been together for 60+ years. I Purchased together at an antique sale & both are approximately 15\" tall.The Brown Monkey most resembles the pre 1930 & earlier Steiffs in pattern, stitching, style & other. It has a wing span of 15\", while the White Gund is about 18\" when his arms are stretched out.They weigh approx. 1/2 pound each. The Brown Monkey, which is Mohair, is in pretty good general condition. In both paws, the wire is starting to come through, but they\'re not too bad. He has an original glass eye - but the other eye appears to be a hard button or a marble. He is fully articulated, and his heads, hips, shoulders, and neck work fully. The tail is just wire and doesn\'t appear to go into the body - independent.We have taken multiple photos so you can see the condition. I did not attempt to clean either one, but they should clean up well. I viewed literally thousands of pictures of antique monkeys and the only ones that match the brown one on 8-10 features is the older pre 1930 Steiffs in my opinion. Buyer must do their own research though, as there is no tag or marking on either monkey.The White Gund Monkey has a cute happy plastic face with an extremely long tail. He has wire in his tail, arms and legs but they are not articulated, but move about freely. Overall, he is in good condition. His hands, particularly his left, has much wear to felt, but is an easy repair. Coloring is good on the face. There is only small crack (near his scalp) which is not readily visible unless you look close. I found several tagged Gund Monkeys with the exact plastic composite face. While the bodies varied on the ones I found, the exact face mold was used on a number of them. That said, this one does not have his tag, so do your own research.They Steiff is clearly a very early one based on a number of details & the Gund is fairly early as well, just not as old his Brown friend. Both are offered for one money as these are for true collectors. We hate to separate friends who have been together for years.
