VERY RARE Victor Nivico sg-12 vintage Japanese guitar Teisco Guyatone PLAYS GRT:
$263.99

This sale is for an ultra rare Japanese market Victor SG-12 from around 1965. Yes, Victor, as in RCA Victor. You are NOT going to see another one of these on for a very long time! Even on Japanese sale sites these are SUPER RARE. I live in Japan, and will be shipping from Japan to the U.S. Before the war, RCA Victor set up a Japanese subsidiary, which eventually went independent, and eventually became JVC (originally called Nivico). This guitar is super rare. Just google it…there’s like only 10 pictures TOTAL on the entire internet! Everyone is into the rare “bizarre” guitars of 60s Japan nowadays, especially Teisco and Guyatone. However, those brands aren’t actually that rare. People buy them because they want something unique, but in reality there’s well over 100 such guitars on at any time, and on Japanese sale sites there are regularly over 500 for sale at any time. In comparison, you NEVER see Victor SG-12s or the other model: SG-18. I actually much more prefer the SG-12 because of its body shape, so classy. The SG-18 is oddly long and frumpy.

So, about thecondition…this guitar plays GREAT! Electronicswork fine. It was set up by someone whoworks at a guitar shop, so it plays really nice with wonderful low action, andno crackle coming out of the pots at all. There are so many Japanese imports on now that are really“projects” (basket cases) that will never sound or play good. You just end up with a guitar w/ super highaction, and/or electrical problems. Thisis NOT one of those sales. Of coursethe guitar isn’t perfect (it’s half a century old, remember), but what I’msaying is you can play it right away as soon as it arrives, and it’s going tosound and feel great.

The other awesomething about my guitar is it has the original matching neck. Good luck trying to find another likethis. A lot of the Teiscos and Guyatoneson have ugly replacement necks. Ihate that! In addition, the body is in goodshape. There is only one dent about 1cmwide on the whole entire guitar (see the attached pic). It’s not so bad though…the paint isn’tchipping around it, so this dent shouldn’t get worse, and it doesn’t affectplaying at all. Of course, there arescratches and stuff along the neck and on the back of the body, pickup cover/pickguard not 100% perfect, but rememberthis guitar is 50 YEARS OLD! Forexample, along the neck where the fretboard attaches the varnish is a littlerough, but not anything that affects playing b/c that’s not where your fingersslide…the entire opposite side and the center of the neck where your thumbslides up and down the neck is perfect though, so this little rough spotdoesn’t affect playing really. As youcan see in the pic, the whole entire front of the guitar is quitebeautiful. The age of the wood makes thenotes ring in a really pretty way. Allthe frets along the neck are nice and smooth too, no sharp edges…Victors wereknown for their quality.

Some morespecifics. The guitar stays in tune andthe tuners work nice. The old styleVictor logo badge (the dog w/ the gramophone) on the head is in perfectshape. The chrome parts look great. Frets 80-90%.The neck is straight. Bridge isin excellent shape and works properly. Newstrings. First string and last stringare both 2mm at 12F. Very easy to play.

Also, I don’t rippeople off w/ shipping like everyone else does nowadays. I charge the EXACT shipping. I live in Japan, so the cheapest shipping toAmerica is $37. They said at the postoffice that it is hard to say exactly how long it will take b/c sometimes thereare delays in customs, but they said maybe around 3-5 weeks for the cheapestshipping option. For a quicker shipping(2-3 weeks) it is $64. NOTE that DOES NOT allow me to add a shipping price from Japan to America...it forces me to put in a USPS method of delivery which is not an option. It also does not allow me to put in the $64 option. Anyway, regardless, you have two options for shipping: $37 or $64 (quicker), that\'s it. At sale end, you tell me which, and I\'ll send you a custom paypal bill for the actual total.

So, for this verylow starting price, you are getting a very unique rare piece of history thatyou can actually play tomorrow. Or forthe same price you can get a newer guitar that feels like crap, looks likecrap, and that you’re embarrassed to play live with. Do you really want something unique? Then forget Teiscos and Guyatones…this is theone. I’m only selling because I’mmoving, so I have to get rid of a lot of stuff. I’m taking a major loss off of it, but Ihave to sell because I’m moving. Please,no offers below what I’m asking. I’m notgoing to end the sale for any low ball prices.

Thanks, good luckofferding!
