Hello, thank you for having a look at our sales. This week we are very excited to be listingan amazing estate collection of fine jades and scholarly objects. This sale will be our Final sale of the winter season. We will likely list another Asian arts sale in early spring. This sale offers a wide variety of fine and important Chinese works of art including many jades, bronzes, and other rarely found scholarly objects.

The sale features items from two important estate collections. They include items from the estate of Mr. H.H Pao of Toronto who owned a high-end shop in the famous Four Seasons hotel in Toronto for several years throughout the 1980s to 1990s period. Mr. Pao was a dear friend whom was considered one of North America’s top experts and scholars in many categories of antique Chinese art. The sale also includes jades and other early Chinese bronze and archaic items from the estate of A Abraham. Mr. Abraham was a highly respected Asian Arts dealer and collector in the 1950-70’s period. He frequently travelled to China, Hong Kong, New York, and London on buying trips at the time. Abraham owned the Imperial Jade shop in the famous King Edward hotel in Toronto until his retirement in the year 1976, 40 years ago. When the shop closed many of the pieces went to Sotheby’s in New York for sale. Abraham kept some of his most favorite examples that we are now offering for sale. Most of the pieces have been in storage since the shop closed in 1976 and have not seen the light of day until now.

Up for sale is a fine antique Chinese carved jade fu lion figural scholars seal. This carving is a fine and authentic antique Qing dynasty period example from the H H Pao collection. The seal is well carved with a unique fu lion figural design. I have included a couple pictures taken in natural daylight. The seal is estate fresh and could use a cleaning and has a few very minor imperfections. The seal is otherwise in very fine condition as seen. The seal measures 1 inch wide, by 1 1/4 inches tall. The seal weighs 40.5 grams. It is becoming increasingly hard to find authentic antique examples like this, mostly being offered without reserve!
