VICTORIAN Solid Silver CALLING CARD CASE 1900 Hallmarked Birmingham Sterling NR
Super Condition - Birmingham - George Edwin Walton
This is a stunningANTIQUE VICTORIAN solid sterling silver calling card case that was made in Birmingham, England in 1900 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, George Edwin Walton & Son at their Hylton Street workshops. It is oblong in shapeand has an elegantengraved finish to the front and is plain to the rear. It is NOT engraved to the cartouche on the front. It measures 3" wide by 11/2" high and is 1/8" thick. It is quite substantial, weighing19.6 grams -almost 3/4troy oz.
It has the usual surface scratching and a good collection of dings and dents and alittle distortion collected overover 110 years but no splits, cracks or repairs- SUPER.It is hallmarked withG.E.W, anchor, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),ashowing that it was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1900. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. A really superb VICTORIAN case afterover 110 yearsand at a very low start!!!!!! Postage will be 3.50GBP both within the UK and to international destinations.
