VINTAGE 1906-1907 SEARS CATALOG NO 116 ORIGINAL MAIL-ORDER:
$82.00

Where can you get a brass bed for under $25, a horse-clipping machine for $12, or a fishing reel with 120 yards of line for $1.20?
From Sears Roebuck & Co.
Long before they opened their first retail store, Sears had all sorts of goods available for order by mail. This is their catalog no. 116, \"The Great Price Maker\", usually identified as the 1906 catalog but likely printed in 1907.
The catalog has over 1100 pages. It measures 8½ in. wide, 11 in. high, and 4 in. thick.
The pages have some discoloration in places, and some corners and edges are frayed and tattered. The binding is loose, and some groups of pages will separate from the catalog. At some point, an attempt was to tape up the binding, but the catalog is quite fragile and should be carefully handled.
There is an amazing variety of goods for sale, and besides the merchandise, there is some interesting reading to be found, including an offer of $10K to charity for proof of five other catalog houses having 1906 sales of over $31.8 million each, as well as an advertisement on how to make money selling clothes ordered from Sears.
