Here is a beautiful Vintage 1940\'s S. Kirk & Son Sterling Silver, Floral Repousse Brooch Pin. The name S. Kirk & Son speaks for itself in their ultimate quality, and the design is stunning.
The brooch measures 2 7/16\" long and 7/8\" wide at the center in a long oval shape. The repousse design sits up approximately 4mm or a little over 1/8\". The brooch pin weighs approximately 16 Grams.
The brooch is Hallmarked \"S Kirk & Son~Sterling\". The Samuel Kirk Silver Company was founded in 1815 in Baltimore, MD, and in 1828 he introduced an ornate type of repousse design as seen in this brooch, and has become known as the Baltimore Style. There have been several hallmarks used since the companies beginnings, and this hallmark dates it back to between 1932 and 1961, and I am pretty sure this was done in the 1940\'s. I have two of these brooch pins, and the other dates back to the Victorian period, so I would guess this was a very popular design, since it was reproduced for so many years.
The bracelet comes from my own personal collection, and after going through all the jewelry that I have, I realized that I have duplicates of several pieces, so I have decided to pass this on for someone else to wear and enjoy. It\'s never too early to shop for the holidays, or just treat yourself. I love vintage-antique jewelry, and I am sure you will love this too.
The brooch is in great vintage condition, with only some very minor scuffing and wear, there are some rust spots along the bar pin, but everything appears to be original and in good working order. The brooch still has some really nice patina, setting off the floral design.
