1944 BULOVA \"SENATOR?\"!
The Bulova \"Minute Man\" model followed model names from the WWII era of the early 1940\'s. The watches were named with a military motif, this one of course speaks of the civilian militia of the early America. The militia were called the \"Minute Men\" because when the call came out to protect their homes from the British, they were ready in a minute.
Here is a copy of an original advertisement from 1944 showing this Bulova \"Minute Man\" watch:
This watch sports a classic 17 Jewel, 10AK movement with a date stamp of \"X\" indicating a watch movement produced in 1943. The back of the watch had a serial number that starts with a 4. During this era, Bulova showed the watches decade year number, so a 4 would indicate 1944.
This men\'s version for sale has a natural yellow gold plated bezel shows in good condition. The lugs on this watch are in pretty good shape with a little wear. The case back on this watch is stainless steel and in great shape.The dial on this watch is in good shape, with a little patina, showing it probably hasn\'t been refurbished from it\'s original state. The crystal is good shape as well with few scratches.
This watch does not run at this time, and I haven\'t taken it into my watchmaker to see what it would take to get it up and ticking.
PLEASE do not attempt to run a vintage with for any length of time without first getting it serviced and oiled. It would be the equivelant of taking a old vintage car out of a barn and immediately taking it on a cross country trip! Not a great idea!
The watch is excellent shape for being about 70 years old... please take a look at the pictures as I\'ve tried to get close-ups from good angles and take a look for yourself at the overall condition of the watch.
Older watches at times stop running or malfunction without warning. Please realize what your buying, a fantastic older time piece, but it\'s not a new watch.
These older watches absolutely need a cleaning and servicing before running for any length of time and then a cleaning/oiling every 2 years thereafter. Please take care of your new time-machine to have it last another 70 years!
