This is a wonderful, framed Vintage Original Watercolor by Renowned Hopi Artist Terrance Talaswaima (1939-1988), also known as Honvantewa.. This colorful rendition depicts a group of five Hope Native Americans in what looks like ceremonial garb set against a desert landscape... Piece is signed and dated, HONVANTEWA 75... The frame measures approximately 15 3/4\" by 8 1/2\", and the artwork itself measured inside the matting is about 11\" by 3 3/4\"...Terrance Talaswaima (1939-1988) Honvantewa + Add Artist to My Preferences

Terrance Talaswaima was a founding member of Artist Hopid in 1973. His Hopi name, Honvantewa, translates to Bear Making Tracks. He was from the village of Shungopavi on the Hopi Reservation.He attended school at the Hopi High School, and then attended theUniversity of Arizona and the University of Northern Arizona. He was aMuseum director, composer, lecturer, storyteller, Katsina doll carver,and a painter.

The artist stated \"What I am trying todo with my art right now...my first responsibility... is to teachpeople the values of Hopi traditions. I\'m into documenting everyaspect of Hopi life.\"

Artist Hopid was a subsidiary of the Hopi Arts Crafts Cooperative Guild. It was founded May 18, 1973 by Doochsiwukioma (Delbridge Honanie), Dawakema (Milland Lomakema), Lomawyewesa (Michael Kabotie), Honvantewa (Terrance Talaswaima) and Neil David, who had lived on the Hopi Mesas most of their lives. By the 1990s, the artists were no longer working as a group.
