Beautiful, collectible 1940\'s Adolph Katz for CORO \'Owls\' separable duette/pin/clips. Each owl features subtle yellow, blue and black enameled abdomens; clear pave rhinestone accents to the upper wings and top of the head and ears. Huge light blue oval cut rhinestone eyes. Gold-plated base metal.
\"Duettes were combinations of a pair of dress or fur clips clipped into a metal frame with a brooch type finding (pin stem) so that you could wear the clips separately or combine them into a large piece and use it as a brooch. Most duette patents date to the mid to late 1920\'s and duettes themselves were sold well into the 1950\'s. Coro was the largest producer of duettes but most of the well known companies produced at least a few. Most duettes, if signed, are signed on the metal frame instead of the clips, so if they become separated from the frame they become much harder to identify as far as manufacturer/designer.\"
The duette measures ~ 2\" x a little over 1-3/4\"
One Owl clip is marked Coro Craft. The duette frame is marked Coro Duette and PAT. NO. 1798867 (frame mechanism patent).
Excellent vintage condition with slight areas of enamel loss on the beak, feathers and claws. One tiny missing rhinestone on the left owl (hard to see)
