An Indispensable Tool of Haute French Cuisine.....Silver Plated Duck Press. Circa 1920\'s - 1930\'s.
A Rare Example such as this, with its Elegant Appearance and Superior Construction, is scarce and highly sought after by those with a most discerning palette.This duck press is exceptionally well-crafted and quite impressive. It is finished in fine silver-plate and stands on a sturdy marble plinth.
The front and back of the press are hinged, with each opening to reveal a removable pot with strainer and is fitted with a spout.
The press has a flat disk -driven by a turn screw with a wheel at the top. Measures (approx.) 18 inches tall with the wheel down and is (approx.) 12.50 inches wide. It stands (approx.) 23.5 inches tall when wheel is fully extended.
Kidney shaped marble base measures (approx.) 18 inches by 9 inches at the center cut-out by 1.5 inches thick. No obvious markings that I can see, except for the ones in the photo\'s provided. Appears to be made by Christofle.This Duck Press is in beautiful condition, is quite sturdy, perfectly workable and has age appropriate wear. There are random age spots / wear to the silver plated surface due to age and function. Most notably- front cover right side upper hinge has one hook missing (can be seen in the photo\'s), wear on the right leg, scratch on left leg, wear on front cover left side, right leg has a mark that is raised, top screw on the wheel has a mark.
Marble base has a few small nicks / scratches / scuff / stains.This piece resembles the Christofle Duck Press from the Tour D\' Argent that was sold recently at Artcurial in Paris, France in 2016.It is Truly a Piece of Culinary Art.....Please note that the reflections in the photographs may detract from the true representation of this item and photo\'s provided are part of this items description.If you would like more or different photo\'s, please email me and I will be happy to send them.Please ask any questions before placing a offer.
