You are offerding on this beautiful vintage 1960-70\'s Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair model 670 and ottoman model 671. This particular set has a gorgeous deep Brazilian rosewood shell with a very nice grain. The chair and ottoman are both in black leather with down filled cushions and have aged magnificently. The chair still has its original Herman Miller Metal Disc label and patent # sticker attached.Background:Around 1971, Herman Miller made a few changes to the Eames lounge and ottoman in order to make it a better functioning and longer lasting chair. They changed the clips from the round clip style to longer black clips. They changed the cardboard backing to a plastic fiberboard, changed the cushion filling, and soon changed the label from a round medallion to a rectangular black label. A few other minor changes were made as well, all going along with Charles and Ray Eames\' philosophy to improve a design over time. Cushions:Overall, the cushions are in very good shape and have a really nice patina. The leather is supple, clean, and worn in to perfection.The armrests have aged well and show expected wear for their age with a little cracking which gives them and amazing vintage look. They are both supple as well and are in no need of replacement. The button on the seat cushions have a little wear but they are still very tight and again play nicely with a nice worn in patina vintage look. Wood:The rosewood shells are in great condition and have an excellent dark Rosewood grain to them as you can see from the pictures.Shock Mounts:The shock mounts are in great shape.Bases and Metal:The aluminum bases are in excellent condition. After a research of the last patent # on the label below the medallion this chair dates 1959-1960.There is a little wear to the canvas on left side of seat cushion zipper at front corner (not distracting or offensive).
