This is a stunning large vintage linen tablecloth from my collection of fine heritage linens featuring an abundance of delightful daisy flowers in an array of rainbow colours ~ in many hues.

This is 50" x 50" (127cm x 127cm)~ larger than many of my tablecloths and crafted from a good quality ivory white linen.

The standard of the embroidery is excellent as you can see from the many images and especially the last image which shows the really neat reverse ~ always a sign of skill and expertise. It is almost hard to tell the difference between front and back.

Please look carefully at my images as they are an important part of my listing and an opportunity for you to see the detail. Please zoom in on the images for this ~ especially as these are my normal best quality. There were issues with the light~ a gloomy overcast day~ so the linen has a blue tint.

There is a great amount of detailed work in this piece as each of the very many petals on the flowers have been neatly embroidered with satin stitch to give a good raised texture.

At each corner there are long flowing stems of daisies in graduated sizes and accented with rows of pretty bright green foliage.

I love that the colourways at each corner are in a different selection adding further interest.

This is certainly a tablecloth of many colours covering a wide spectrum ~ lavender, mauve, lilac and purple; lemon, golden yellow, amber and burnt orange; rose, pastel, shell and dusky pink: scarlet, poppy red, ruby and wine; sapphire, sky and pastel blues.

The embroidery at each corner measures 16" x 11" (40cm x 28cm) and is linked to each adjacent corner with a scalloped line of embroidered stem stitch in green.

There are more hand embroidered daisies in the middle of each side~ also in different colourways.

The centre features more flowers~ mainly in shades of golden yellows, lemon and orange linked with curved shaped lines of green.

This large tablecloth has a good drape and displays very well.

The ivory white linen has been finished with a traditional turned hem and drawn thread work detail.

Perfect for a vintage country inspired home or to give as a pretty gift.

I love wrapping my linens in layers of quality tissue paper and tied with pretty satin ribbons. So ready for giving.

Measurements: 50" x 50" (127cm x 127cm)

Condition: Vintage and in excellent condition. The colours are clear and vibrant with no sign of rubbing . I have laundered and air dried this before listing. It is very clean, fresh, ready for use and to enjoy.

I have, as always, taken many images so that it is easier to appreciate and study the amazing needlework skills of those who created these heritage pieces from a bygone era. Please do so as they form part of my description and reflect the care, time & patience that have been spent on this beautiful work. I like to think the images speak for themselves.

Each piece I list is so very different and an expression of the creativity of the embroiderer – a precious resource in this age of mass production and one to be cherished for future generations.

I am passionate about preserving these pieces for future generations, always appreciative and aware of the skill and never under estimating the amount of time taken to produce these pieces.

Some are more detailed and elaborate than others but each seem to have their own personality reflecting that of the embroiderer and sense of achievement. So much so that many of the pieces I sell, either vintage or antique, have been stored away with little use and kept for best.

To me they are an art form and a joy to behold when so much is mass produced these days. I also feel very privileged to care for these beautiful pieces getting them ready for future generations.

Please remember that my linens are either antique or vintage and as such means that they have a history of use which is part of their charm and why I am passionate about collecting and selling them.

"A thing of beauty is a joy for ever: Its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing."

John Keats 1795 -1871
