It is difficult to categorize the creation..showing signs of age best taken care of by a professional cleaning..although charming and STRUCTURALLY sound as is! My guess, through signs of both oxidation and tarnishing, is that it is Silver plated brass...in remarkable condition for it\'s age and provenance.
Possibly originally sold as a souvenir to the shrine of Cervantes in Spain..it\'s REAL value lies in its historic and METICULOUS detail to both the fiction and the reality of the Author and his Iconic work!
The clasp sticks a bit but secures fine..I have worn it for hours with no problem!
