Just in time for the Easter holiday seasonis a VERY HIGHLYSOUGHT AND VERY HARD TO FIND COLLECTABLEGERMAN PAPIER ("paper") MACHE CHROMOLITH EGG CANDY CONTAINER. The egg is 4 1/4"and CLEARLYSTAMPED "GERMANY" in the paper design of the interior--See PICTURE.The egg is decorated with a chromolithofthree (3) endearing young children trying desperately to capture the "Easter" rabbit. Even the littletoddler (with her rattle in hand) is racing to keep up. The chromolith itself is brightbut shows age wear and a small indention ( about 1/2") to one side of the egg. The dresden trim is present on the bottom of the egg except for 2 little points. There is 2" of the 12" of dresden trim missing on the top of the egg--SEE PICTURES. The lace trim on the inside is missing about8 of the 30 sections of lace. The overall inside of the egg has yellowed withsomeminor stains but since it was used for candy and treats they only go to tell the egg's story. Despite its issues, this egg is still my FAVORITE EGG of all the egg candy containers because I just adore the precious children. It really is a MUST HAVE because this egg just does not come along very often. I would rate thisegg in great for display in a basket of eggs.Long ago, the egg candy containers were just as popular as the rabbit candy containers, if not more so as Easter gifts.
