Just in time for the Easter holiday seasonis an ADORABLE5 1/4" VINTAGE GERMAN PAPIER ("paper") MACHEor COMPOSITE CANDY CONTAINER. Thebunny is CLEARLY MARKED "GERMANY"--SEE PICTURES. The little bunny sits on its haunches and the head can be removedso that tiny treatscan fill the base of the rabbit. He appears in great shape but I suspect that thisbunnymayhave been brought back to lifeby someone prior to my purchase. Here are a few things that I will note: 1) the tip of the bunny's right ear looks like a repair but it is hard to notice unless looking for it, 2) there is a paint crack on the left ear but honestly I can't tell if the ear was repaired--if so, a fine job, 3) the glass eyes may be replacements, but nice, and 4) some paint touch-ups are possible--but again a excellent job. Also, there is wax-like subtance (like used to hold candles in place in a candle holder) on the base of the head so that the head willstay in place securelyso as to not fall off if moved around by a little one.It can be easily be removed, if you choose, personally I liked the security.:) So while this little guy may have had some repairs, they are very well done and hard to detect--he is really the cutest little thing with a lot of personality.The container is clean and really looks great. This will be an adorable addition to your German candy container collectibles or tobe used as that special Easter basket treat. I would rate thisrabbit very good-excellent condition.Long ago, therabbit candy containers were very popularEaster gifts. Combining a rabbit candy container with eggs doubled the thrill of the little child and often doubled as toys for creative play. Many did not survive the child play so in many respects it is wonderful that this little guy can live out many more years because someone took the time to breath new life in a collectible that is more than 50 years old.
