Just in time for the Easter holiday seasonis an ADORABLEVINTAGE GERMAN PAPIER ("paper") MACHEor COMPOSITE CANDY CONTAINER. Thebunny is CLEARLY MARKED "MADE IN GERMANY" (circa 1920)--SEE PICTURES. He is also marked with "25" in pencil which well may be the price of this little guy back in the early 1900s--don't we all wish a quarter would buysomething this fabuloustoday :) The stately bunny sits on its haunches andhis head can be removedso thatlittle treatscan fill the base of the rabbit. He appears in great shape with dark, beautiful coloring. His GLASS EYES are just perfect! He stands 8 1/2" tall and 2 1/2" wide. Here are a few things that I will note:1) the rightpaw has a repair but is very secure and hard to detect-See Pictures, 2) the tail has a repair and is very secure-hard to notice, 3) the cardboard neck ring secured, and 3) some paint touch-ups are possible. So while this little guy may have had some repairs--he still isa stately lookingbunnywith a lot of personality.The container isclean and really looks great. This will be angreat addition to your German candy container collectibles or tobe used as that special Easter basket treat. I would rate thisrabbit very good-excellent condition.Long ago, therabbit candy containers were very popularEaster gifts. Combining a rabbit candy container with eggs doubled the thrill of the little child and often doubled as toys for creative play. Many rabbits did not survive the child play so in many respects it is wonderful that this little guy can live out many more years because someone took the time to breath some life in a collectible that ismore than 50 years old.
