This sale is for a wonderful vintage California Art pottery figurine designed by artist Hedi Schoop. Hedi was one of the designers at the forefront of this era of Mid Century ceramics. Having fled Europe in 1933 with her composer husband she resettled in California and in 1940 opened up a pottery studio in Hollywood, focusing on the popular figurines along with planters, ashtrays, lamps, bowls and vases. This figurine portrays a blonde woman dancing with a fan in one hand and a basket in the other hand held against her flowing dress. The dress is a gorgeous shaded mix of pink to blues. It has an intricate design around the neck and sleeve cuff as well as on the fan. Her hair is blonde and is actually lightly textured. She is very graceful with one pointed foot in the air. She measures 12 1/4\" tall and 9 1/2\" across the width of the skirt. It is signed Hedi Schoop on the base. I believe she dates to circa the 1940\'s. I believe she is quite rare with this coloring and outfit. She is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. She is a vintage piece and has some light minor age crazing but nothing that deters from this wonderful figurine. The only imperfection is a tiny dark blue dot like paint on the skirt bottom and one on the back of the arm. I think these may be from when she was painted and are very minor. This is a wonderful and rare Hedi Schoop figurine planter. Thanks for looking.
