The J series is Esterbrook\'s most popular fountain pen. They were made in the 1940s, and are quite sturdy and durable. They feature an interchangeable nib system - you simply unscrew the nib, and screw on a different one. This one was made during the time when J\'s had double jewels. It\'s a very handsome pen. Capped, it measures 5\" long. Posted, it measures 6-1/8\".This one is a beautiful blue color. I purchased it less than a year ago when it had just been restored with a new sac and talc. The lever-filling action is smooth and crisp.Shortly after acquiring it, I purchased one of the most desirable of the Esterbrook nibs: the #9048 flexible fine. Since it was NOS (new old stock) when I bought it, the tipping is excellent. Please note that Esterbrook nibs are stiff compared to other nibs of the period, so flexible is a relative term.This pen is about as fine an example as you\'re likely to find.
