Our story began over 40 years ago,when turquoise was a huge fashion trend, and Albuquerque’s Route 66 was the hubof turquoise jewelry trading. Bill was a college graduate with a passion forthis gemstone, as well as for the southwestern lifestyle. He was swept away bythe sky stone, and would become one of its greatest champions. Meanwhile, in alittle trading post in northern Minnesota, a little girl named Carolyn wouldcarefully select her first turquoise ring while on summer vacation. Over the past 10 years, we haveformed partnerships with 8 Native American artists, each of them bringing aunique vision and design technique to the Carolyn Pollack Jewelry team. Thesedesigners combine the influences of their rich histories with their owncontemporary styles to

create jewelry that is both inspiredand inspirational.

The world has had a fascination forturquoise for over 7000 years. The oldest known example of any jewelry was acarved turquoise and gold bracelet found on the mummy of an Egyptian queen. Inthe American Southwest, Native Americans have mined turquoise since prehistorictimes. Many legends surround turquoise, it is believed to bring good fortuneand health. While turquoise was once used as currency in the AmericanSouthwest, it has been treasured as an adornment throughout the centuriesworldwide.

For the past 20 years, Bill and Carolynhave experienced the evolution of turquoise jewelry from its appeal assouthwestern, Native American or tourist jewelry, to one of the most covetedgems set into designer jewelry worldwide. Coveted, that is, only if you aretalking about true, genuine turquoise. And so our turquoise love storycontinues.

While the demand for turquoise hasincreased dramatically, the supply of genuine turquoise is limited.
