The subject of this review isa unique example of a vintage men\'s timepiece of one of the most known andrecognized Swiss brands. It is an interestingwristwatch of the Second World War that was made by “Omega Factory”. This unique military watch was used in military German Army.
Unfortunately the former dialhas been strongly spoilt; therefore it has been professionally updated. The new black dial is executed in a military style. Itfeatures a 60 minute outer track border, easily readable Arabic figures of the simple shape in the military style, Mercedes hands and a sub-second’s dial.The dial is signed ‘OMEGA’ with trademark Omega symbol above this.
This model of OMEGA watch has a four-piece, double hinged massive casethat was made especially for military watch to protect the mechanismfrom dust and debris and to provide an extra layer of protection from shock ormoisture. The inside of back lid has the oldtrademark Omega symbol with the inscription ‘OMEGA –SWISS MADE – FABRICATION SUISSE’and case reference number #9.499.879.
Theinscriptions: ‘Swiss made’, ‘Fabrication Suisse’ testify that thiswatch has been assembled on 100% exclusively in Switzerland.
The winding crown is in very good shape and operates properly.
This unique military largemechanical watch has original movement.The original movement is branded. Onthe movement there are inscriptions: ‘OMEGA’,‘SWISS’, and ’15 JEWELS’. The signedoriginal movement with genuinejewels has serial number #8.703.703. The serial number on themovement as the reference number on the case (#9.499.879) places the date of production of this piece at 1937. The original mechanism is in anexcellent status which was very well saved, considering age of this watch.
Thepocket watches were not practical in combat. So, this watch was converted towristwatch.
The watch is fitted on a new 22 mm black genuine high-quality leather strapwith chrome steel buckle. The beautiful strap that is stitched by whitethreads is military style and goes very well with this wonderful watch.

History: The History of aSuccessful Company Omega was founded by Louis Brandt at La Chaux – de – Fonds, Switzerlandin 1848 as an assembly workshop. In 1879, after his death, his two sons LouisPaul and César started the in-house manufacturing so they started having total productioncontrol. One year later, Omega moved into a small factory that became a hugeone when 12 months later they bought the entire building. In 1903, they bothdied leaving the company in 24 years old, Paul Emile Brandt’s hands. Because ofthe crisis that the Second World War left, he had to work really hard in orderto face the economic difficulties. He merged Omega with Tissot calling the newcompany SSIH. The SSIH group continued to grow and multiply under hisleadership and, by the seventies, it had become Switzerland’s number one producerof finished watches and number three in the world.
