OriginalWWII German Wehrmacht Tropical (Afrika Korps / Africa Corps / AK, DAK) Tent Pegs Dated1940. The Pegs have matching markings and dates. The manufacturer’s initialsare DWL or maybe WDL (the W is inside of the D - see photos). These Pegs do notlook like they were used much, if at all and they still have their original rope ties that are in great condition. There are however some stress cracks, which are normal on thicker sections of this type of material (see detail photos of the heads).Unlike the more common pre-war aluminum pegs or the \"late war\" steel ones, these are the \"Tropical\" version, which are made from Phenol-Formaldehyde Impregnated Wood laminate (aka Phenolic or Bakelite).

Each Wehrmacht soldier that was issued a Zeltbahn (combination Poncho/ Shelter Quarter) was also issued Three (3) Sections of Tent Pole and Three(3) Tent Pegs. It took four (4) Zeltbahn’sto make a “square floor plan” 4-man tent and between them, the four (4)soldiers would have 12 tent pegs and 12 sections of the tent’s center pole,which would be a few more than necessary to erect the tent.
