Zaphir – Lladró style Madame Butterfly

Dimensions: 13 inches tall – base 5-1/2 by 4 inches

This figurine belonged to my Mother and appears to be a Lladró,but is marked Zaphir. In researching it for sale I discovered that there iscircumstantial evidence that at least as of 1981 Zaphir was a Lladró affiliatedname. Also made as Zaphir. Fulgencio García died the year this was released, so it would have been one of the last NAO models on which he worked.

The Zaphir collection was a relatively short-lived venture, fromabout 1978 to the early- to mid-1980s. The Zaphir mark consists solely of thecursive name Zaphir (with the script somewhat difficult to read, so that peoplesometimes mis-render it as \"Laphin\" or \"Zaphin\") and thelegend \"Hand Made in Spain,\" all in a green back stamp with no otherlogo or attribution. This figurine was retired in 1996 and according to thewebsite where I found her is valued between $135 and $150.
