__________Space Age circa 1960 Mid-Century Modern American Art Glass orange ombre pedestal floor/table vase in swung glass made by L.E. Smith Glass Co. in their unique \"Bittersweet\" coloration with a sculptural flamed peak design. L.E. Smith Glass Company began making the Bittersweet color in 1960. Due to the color change, some people call it slag glass. It is actually an opaque amberina, shading from orange, graduating to yellow at the pedestal base. It is a color that is unique to L.E. Smith.This c1960 vase stands a tall 26 inches in height and 6 inches at its widest and it can be used as a floor or table vase.Great vintage condition without chips or cracks in the glass.According to the Smith literature, there is an indentation on the inside where you could put a very tall taper candle. Since this vase is 26 inches tall, you would need a taper candle at least 22 inches tall (or longer) to just barely clear the top rim.One of the most aesthetic swung glass forms from the L.E. Smith catalog, this towering vase makes a large scale statement piece in any retro modern setting.
