This listing is for one of the most charming and unusual Christmas ornaments that I have had - a figural parrot on a swing, made in Germany dating to the 1920\'s or earlier. The bird is hand made from composition - a combination of glue, sawdust and plaster, and hand painted. The swing is made from paper wrapped wire, and the swing base is wood. There is some real greenery (moss?) on the swing. It is in excellent condition - the finish on the bird has crazed (light surface cracking to the piece), and the paint is slightly faded, but there are no breaks or damage. It really is charming, with amazing patina (the aged look things get over time). It is a beautiful piece, that qualifies as folk art - a one-of-a-kind piece made by artisans in Germany from the 1920\'s (or earlier). It is marked Germany on the bottom of the swing.
