This beautiful vintage sewing basket is from an estate. I\'m guessing it is from the 1930\'s or early 40\'s. It features a charming woven hemp rope & splint construction with an asymmetricscalloped rectangular shape. It measures about 12\" x 9\", and 5\" tall. The inside has a aqua blue satin tufted lining including satin thread covered buttons and the blue is carried to the outside in (faded) blue dyed splints for added color and interest. There are pin marks/punctures inside the lid/lining, to be expected in a sewing box that was used. It is in clean vintage condition--there is a small area ofloose, broken wicker on one side/corner, but the basket remains sturdy and is attractive nevertheless. The clasp opens and closes easily. The bottom is ink stamped \"MBD Highmount\" with a number and a line (hard to read), and then \"__st Germany\". Can\'t really tell if it is East or West. Please see all 12 photos.
