This is a true Victorian Christmas ornament, not a reproduction! She is hand made, not store bought. It is a very fine piece, made around 1900. It is large, measuring 10" tall. The little girl to her waist is an embossed die cut heavy paper, with her dress being spun cotton (unwoven cotton) batting, like the cotton used to stuff antique quilts. She has embellishments on her dress of dark red crepe paper, that pick up the color of her dress top. She is charming, and so special. She has a hanger on the back that was glued in place under a piece of cardboard, and she has a piece of cardboard under her skirt that holds her top half and skirt in place. The die cut girl is called Victorian scrap, because the Victorians collected this type of paper, and pasted them into scrap books. This Christmas ornament is rare, in that it survived at all, much less survived in this condition! I have others - these true Victorian pieces are becoming harder to find! Like everything I sell, this piece is guaranteed old, and authentic. I did add a spot of non-acidic glue to the back of her arm which had creased and threatened to separate.
