Description
This kitschy \"modernistic\" kitschy reindeer was made by the E. Rosen/Rosbro company in the 1950\'s. The E. Rosen company was a candy company started in 1911 in Rhode Island, and Rosbro was one of their toy novelties divisions. The reindeer is typical of the 1950\'s futuristic type of novelty Christmas item that was very popular with a post-WWII population looking for something different from the traditional designs of the 1920\'s, and 1930\'s. The country was ready for change, and the designs and colors were reflective of that. Instead of green real trees, folks were turning to shiny foil trees. Plastic was all the rage. This reindeer was made as an ornament, as part of a set, and also sold singly to stand alone. Sometimes he was sold with a Santa in sled candy container and a harness. This reindeer measures 4 1/\" long and stands 3 1/2\" tall. The E. Rosen toys have become hot collectibles, due to their vintage look and great designs. The reindeer is in excellent shape with no cracks or breaks. The glue has darkened along the seams which is typcal of these pieces, as the manufacturer didn\'t use acid free glue.
