This Vintage Japanese Lacquered & Wood Jewelry Music Box is awesome & unique in a class all its own--I\'ve never seen materials used this way in these vintage Japanese boxes: an outstanding & colorful reverse-painted scenic combined with opalescent effects is coupled with gorgeous-grained wood panels & wood box to create a bold beauty of a box that has a unisex appeal--equally-suitable for either a man or woman with its rugged good looks.
Upon opening the lid, the music begins to play the gorgeous tune \"Swan Lake\" from the ballet of the same name flawlessly while a ballerina in a white lace tutu magnetically \"dances\" over the mirrored-glass stage, actively twirling & spinning while also circling around the mirror, while behind her the mirrors in the opened lid reflect her image beautifully--the effect is mesmerizing, hypnotic--imagine what a beautiful \"show\" you will get each time you place or retrieve your jewelry there.
Measuring 18\" L x 7\" W x 5\" Tall, weighing 4 lbs, it is large enough to hold all your jewelry, & I have carefully restored it to be in excellent, near-mint vintage condition.The music box mechanism is that of Tokiwa, & as part of the restoration I do, I have serviced & oiled the mechanism to play flawlessly for years to come, because this is an heirloom-quality antique music box that you will want to pass down to generations to come, to use, enjoy, & cherish memories made, & those to come--it sounds simply fabulous--you will not be disappointed with its exquisite sound as it plays \"Swan Lake\" superbly.
There are so few flaws in this incredible antique, but I mention it only to be accurate--there were a few edge chips in the lacquer, but I have expertly-retouched them to protect the finish & be nearly imperceptible, so the only flaw I see in this gorgeous box is that there is no upper latch to lock the box--it\'s considered to be a minor flaw that is usually just accepted as part of the character, or \"charm\" of owning antique treasures.
