Item Description100% original and authentic WWII era personal field item of the
German Wehrmacht SS machine gun MG troops elite waffen soldiers.
This taller model mess kit was used by the elite Waffen-SS machine
gunners in the SS (Schutzstaffel) divisionsand it has been attachedwith equipment straps towards the backpack or rucksack of the soldier.
The MG-34 and the later MG-42 were the best light machine guns of the war. Their fast rate
of fire - up to 1,500 rounds per minute had a devastating effect on advancing Allied infantry.
The mess kit is made of aluminium construction and it is black painted.
Based on the WWI pattern M.1910 mess kit, this early issue 2 liter capacity version
has the same kidney shape as the standard army M31 pattern but with extra height.The mess kit consists of two pieces - an upper lid which can be used as a messing
bowl, and a lower food container. The lid section is equipped with triple riveted,
folding handle fitted with raised loops for the equipment carrying straps. When
removed from the kit, the handle folds back to allow the lid to be used as a bowl.
The front of the lower compartment of the mess kit has four small impressed horizontal
lines for measuring 1/2 liters. Metal carrying handle mounts are riveted to each upper
side of the body. The lower food container is fitted with swivelling iron carrying handle.The lower compartment also has a small metal lug on the inside to hold the
Eßbesteck (folding spoon and fork eating utensil) neatly for transport.This rare MG troops elite field mess kit is one real collectible relic from the WWI era!
The mess kit is in overall verygoodpreservedauthentically condition forits age.It was cleanedonlywith wetwipes to remove the accumulated dirt and dust.The mess kit is originally black painted and it hasverygood preserved paint, which is difficult to find!The Dimensions of the Mess kit are:
