This sale is for a rare original 1960s/70s RAAK, Netherlands, Amsterdam, triple drop configuration, space age sputnik inspired pendent cascade lamp that exudes iconic mid 20th century modern living. This phenomenal lamp comprises a black enamelled circular cast metal ceiling plate with chrome balancing weight in the central position and the drops are staggered around the perimeter of the circular ceiling plate. The lamp is hung from the ceiling or preferred location with the reliable and stable simple \'s\' hook fixture to hang. The lamp comprises three large evocative chromed metal and geometrically textured glass diffusers internally decorated with orange enamel with incised detail indicative of iconic 60s design, hung in staggered cascading formation. All three drops of the lamp can be individually adjusted in length enabling an innumerable amount of combinations and silhouettes to be set. The lamp in this aspect is truly unique and renders it entirely versatile as you can set up the lamp exactly as you prefer by adjusting the lengths of the drops. This also can make the lamp more effective as a functional light pulling the drops lower to light a dinning table for example. The majority of cascade configuration pendant lamps are usually fixed in one position but this lamp has the flexibility of being able to change it\'s form and function. It can be set up for ambient mood lighting with all drops strung high, strung lower for downlighting or set up on an artistic sculptural formation of your choosing for strategic mood lightning. The lamps luminescence is emersed with the ambient orange/honey glow from the enamel on the inside of the diffusers of the lamps light sources . In darker settings when used for ambient mood lighting the lamp will project its patterns and colours which creates an ambient pattern, relaxed atmosphere. The lamp for it\'s age and rarity is in excellent condition. I have completely disassembled the lamp into it\'s individual component parts and cleaned and polished all the chromed metal so that it looks it\'s best on the diffusers. The chrome ceiling plate is in perfect condition with no pitting and has been polished to restore its lustre to a fresh and clean aesthetic there are some faint superficial marks that commensurate with the general age of the item but this lamp looks almost like deadstock or carefully used or stored. The lamps obsolete 60s wiring has been stripped out and has been refurbished throughout installing brand new bulb holders and electric flex on every drop. I have installed extra flex on all of the drops so that they can be made longer than pictured. The suspended formation of the diffusers I choose for the pictures is the classic suspended pose accentuating a cascading motion as each pendant falls one into the other making the iconic cascade domino effect.The chromed metal plating on the lamp is generally in excellent condition with no pitting anywhere and looks like it has been a deadstock item from the 60s/70ss or has been very carefully used and stored. It has been kept in excellent condition. The lamp is ready to install and can be installed into an existing electric point on the ceiling or wired to a plug and used as a table or floor lamp in a cozy corner. The lamp has been designed & manufactured by RAAK of Holland, Amsterdam and are renowned for their innovative designs and high quality manufacturing. This lamp is a very rare and a seldom seen design form and is a large impressive 60s example fully functioning and complete and fits in well with the industrial asetic and the mid century modern and bauhaus style interiors and items to create the influence thereof. The lamp is ready to install into an existing ceiling light point or be wired on an extension to a plug and used as a hanging lamp and plugged in as a table lamp.
