Offering a 6.5\" tall painted wooden WENDT & KUHN ANGEL CANDLE HOLDER - one of the delightful FOLK ART FIGURES beautifully decorated with gilded details made in the ERZGEBIRGE region of the German Democratic Republic (GDR, former East Germany) since 1915. The paper label reads: \"ERZGEBIRGE EXPERTIC Made in German Democratic Republic\".This angel was bought new in the 1980\'s and, as one can see, has actually been used to hold a candle. Sadly, at one Christmas party, it was not noticed in time that more than the candle was burning - half of her angelic face, part of her crown, chest and hand and also the candle holder suffered paint loss. I have not tried to remove the dripping wax. There is crazing in the blue paint of the inner wings and very minor scratch along the back bottom edge. Was I the only person who actually used these candle holders? I would not recommend it. I am only selling her as we need to consolidate our non-essential STUFF in order to enjoy NYC apartment living! The original box, in condition as shown, with the marking \"553/4R ROT 1-St. L\" (red, 1 piece) and its \"Holzwolle\" (excelsior) is included although it appears the lid belongs to another model from this company.
